Goverment fixes price of commodities

The government has fixed the Maximum Retail Prices (MRPs) of 15 basic commodities to facilitate the customers on Thursday.

TA meeting of Ministry of Commerce and Supplies (MoCS) with the government officials and the representatives from the private sector decided to provide 2 percent discount to the customers in consumable daily commodities effective from Friday.

Similarly, the government has also lowered the price by Rs. 1 to 13 per kg in the 15 food items.

The government has fixed the price of the Regular Mansuli rice at Rs. 36 per kg, Sona Mansuli Rs. 36 per kg, General Jira Masino Rs. 55 per kg, Steam Jira Masino Rs. 60 per kg, Black Lentils (mas) Rs. 96 per kg, Black Lentil (big sized mas) Rs. 105 per kg, Lentil Rs. 93 per kg, Lentil (big sized) Rs. 102 per kg, Mung pulse Rs. 117 per kg, Mung pulses (big-sized) Rs. 128 per kg, Chickpeas (chana) Rs. 107 per kg, White Pea Rs. 65 per kg, Bean Rs. 95 per kg, Wheat flour Rs. 31 per kg and Flour Rs. 36 per kg.

However, the authority to fix the MRPs of salt and sugar will be given to the Salt Trading Corporation (STC). The government has also said it would take strong measures to discourage black-marketing ahead of the major festivals like Dashain and Tihar.
