The government has decided to increase the cash prize of the medal winning players, coaches and sports associations in international tournaments on Thursday.
It has been decided that players winning gold in individual events at the Olympics will be awarded with Rs 10m while their associations and coaches will be the recipient of Rs 1.5m and 1m respectively.
Likewise, players winning gold medals at the Asian games will be felicitated with Rs 2.5m while their associations and coaches will be awarded Rs 1m and Rs 500,000 respectively.
Similarly, players winning gold in South Asian Games will bag a purse of Rs 500,000.
The silver and bronze medallists in Olympics’ individual events will secure 7.5m and 5m respectively, while their coaches will be felicitated with cash prize of 0.6m and 0.45m respectively.
