Big three 'decisive talks' on Sunday

A meeting of the three major parties, earlier scheduled to take place today, has been deferred to Sunday.

According to Nepali Congress vice president Ram Chandra Poudel, the NC and the UML will sit for talks to form a common position ahead of the three-party talks.

The three parties are meeting in an attempt to find a way out of the protracted political stalemate.

The talks will dwell mainly on the two options - reinstatement of the Constituent Assembly or fresh elections. UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal Friday claimed that the talks starting today are going to be decisive. The UCPN (Maoist) and the Nepali Congress earlier this week reached an understanding to intensify talks to reach consensus by the end of Bhadra (Sept 16). They also agreed to go to polls if consensus didn't evolve by then.
