Only fifty percent of the physical infrastructures damaged during the ten-year long conflict have been reconstructed so far.
Of the 5,560 physical structures damaged during the conflict, only 2,883 have been reconstructed, said the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction.
According to Ministry’s Joint Secretary and Information Officer Damodar Bhandari, a taskforce was formed to collect the details of those Maoist fighters injured and rendered disabled during the conflict and to propose rehabilitation package for them and the Ministry based on the taskforce report has already allocated Rs. 24 million for the same purpose.
Similarly, Rs. 1.11 billion has been allocated to the Police Headquarters and its subordinate bodies for the construction of 184 police beats in two phases, of which some 94 have been completed so far.
Likewise, as many as 348 children from 22 districts who had lost their parents during the conflict are getting Rs. 5,000 as monthly allowance from the Ministry. Besides, the Ministry in the fiscal year 2065-066 BS had allocated Rs. 300.7 million under the heading of administrative expenses for the purpose of constitution drafting process and Rs. 502 million to the Election Commission for developing the voters identity cards in in the fiscal year 2066 -067 BS and 2067-068 BS.
