A big religious fair takes place at the Kumbheshwor Temple on the occasion of the Janai Purnima festival every year. It is believed that the water from Gosinkunda, a holy place high up in the lap of the Himalayas in Rasuwa district to the north of Kathmandu Valley, sprouts here at Kumbheshwor.
It is also believed that one would get salvation if one pays obeisance at the Kumbheshwor Temple on the occasion of Janai Purnima.
A big religious fair also takes place at Gosainkunda on the same occasion today.
